Well now that the draft is over, did we address our needs?
In some areas we did. Such as defensive backs on defense. That is an area where we struggled greatly last season. With Jimmy Smith being hurt we had no one else other than Tavon Young who was a rookie in that position and played pretty good. Not as strong as Jimmy though. We picked up Marlon Humphrey from Alabama, a physical corner.
Another area was a pass rusher, with Elvis Dumervil gone we addressed that with the pickup of Tyus Bowser OLB from the University of Houston, he was the #5 edge defender in the run stop. This is an area where we were lacking with only 1 sack of the quarterback the whole season. We also picked up a gem of the 5 stand technique in DE Chris Wormley from the University of Michigan. We also picked up OLB Tim Williams from Alabama who was a third round steal pass rusher.
Now on the offensive side The offensive line is also where we needed help, as well, so we did add two offensive linemen . We picked up Nico Siragusa, a guard from San Diego State and Jermaine Eluemunor an OL from Texas A&M.
We didn’t address the issue at the wide receiver position where we needed help the most. Some mock drafts had us picking Mike Williams or either Corey Davis, but they didn’t stay on the board at the #16 spot. Maybe we will address the issue sooner than later, with free agency. There are some free agency vets out there that we may potentially get.
We have a young group of guys on the roster along with the resurgence of Mike Wallace who had over 1000 yards in receptions last season. That was a huge improvement since coming from Minnesota. With him getting a full season to work with Joe Flacco, should be great.
I will be watching to see what moves Ozzie Newsome will be making in the upcoming weeks to get Joe Flacco some help that is needed.
I see us going 11-5 and can’t wait for the 2017 regular season to begin.
