For the first time in the postseason, the Green Bay Packers are opening as the underdogs and the Dallas Cowboys will be looking to take advantage of home field advantage Sunday.
I have been pretty confident in the Packers’ ability to win so far, but facing the Cowboys makes me a bit nervous, I’ll admit. What makes me a bit more confident is the fact that the Cowboys lost to the New York Giants, who the Packers were able to defeat last week.
Although he didn’t play much against the New York Giants, leaving in just the second quarter, I’d be feeling much more at ease if I knew Jordy Nelson was going to be playing Sunday. Still day-to-day after injuring his ribs last week, I can’t help but think back to the 2015 season, and how much we needed Nelson while he was out with a knee injury.
If Nelson is ruled out for this game, I think that Randall Cobb and Davante Adams will be the two players most likely to step up and help minimize the loss of Jordy. There’s even the chance that rookie Geronimo Allison could see more playing time, and help fill the void as well.
When the Pack faced the Cowboys in Week 6, it wasn’t pretty, and Green Bay lost 30-16. I’ll argue that Green Bay is a much different (read: stronger) team NOW than they were in Week 6, but we still are looking at Ezekiel Elliott, and the key to winning Sunday (in my opinion) will be stopping him. The Packers will need to stop him from gaining first downs on every run. That will put more pressure on Dak Prescott, playing his very first postseason game. Can he handle the pressure?
As always, I’ve got confidence in the ability of the Packers to win any game they play. With Aaron Rodgers it’s possible.
The 11-6 Green Bay Packers will visit AT&T Stadium Sunday at 4:40pm ET, to face the 13-3 Dallas Cowboys. I think once again, this is going to be the game to watch Sunday. I’m going with a score prediction of 30-20 Packers. Tweet along with me if you’re watching the game @lucyrk78!
